Wine festivals in summer

As soon as the thermometer shows more than 30 degrees Celsius, it means not only that summer is finally here, but also that the wine festival season has begun.

The beginnings of the German wine festivals go back to the 15th century. To this day, however, many customs, such as the traditional opening of the festival by the wine queens as representatives of a particular wine-growing region, have been preserved. As wine lovers we have started a wine festival research for you and have selected the most beautiful summer wine festivals for you:

In addition, restaurateurs at 16 stands will take care of your physical well-being and more then 50 bands will play on stage before the town hall.

The 81st Vintage Festival in Alzey will take place from 20 to 24 September 2019. Gingerbread hearts, candy floss, shooting ranges, a ride on the Ferris wheel or adrenaline rides are all part of the Alzey Wine Festival Experience.

Wine market Mainz
The wine festival in Mainz is 83 years old and takes place this year once from 29 August to 01 September and from 5 to 8 September. Highlights of the Mainzer Weinfest are the blind tasting of wines from Rheinhessen and the Schlenderweinprobe, a beautiful wine walk through the Mainzer Stadtpark with wine tasting at eight different winegrowers from Rheinhessen.

Wine festivals on the Moselle
The Moselle region and its love of wine: from Trier to Koblenz to the town of Cochem, almost every village has its own wine festival with Riesling wines!

A very special event of the Moselle winegrowers are the „Tage der offenen Weinkeller„. Between May and October the winegrowers in the Moselle region open their wine cellars for one day and give you an insight into their work. Here you get to know the making of the wine and can taste the world-famous Riesling personally at the winemaker.

In the Moselle region, we find the Wine Festival in Cochem from 22 to 26 August worth visiting, because it is one of the largest and most beautiful on the Moselle. You celebrate at the wonderful Moselle promenade and in the „good room“ of Cochem, on the market place.

Winegrower festival in Bingen
The Winzerfest in Bingen lasts 11 days. Bingen is the secret capital of wine because the city borders on four wine-growing regions: Rheinhessen, Nahe, Mittelrhein and Rheingau. 40 winegrowers cultivate 665 hectares here and in addition the ice wine was invented here, the second highest quality level, which a wine can have at all!
